Introduction from the Chair

Dear colleagues,

Welcome to our annual Newsletter. What an extraordinary year we have had. When I was writing an introduction to the Newsletter this time last year, in my wildest dreams I could not have imagined what would happen over the next twelve months.

If we ever thought there was a need for leadership in research into patient experiences, now is the time. Lived experience, personal experiences, narratives of health and illness – whatever you want to call it – are critical to understanding our ever-changing world, and with the havoc wrought by COVID-19 we need to understand this more than ever.

This newsletter illustrates our strong presence in this space; your innovative, rigorous and creative efforts have resulted in exceptional work. Congratulations to you all.

Stay well, look after yourselves and your loved ones. I do hope to see you all at our online meeting 30 November-3 December. We have much to discuss and share and catch up on!
